We installed a walter+bai 100kN Electro-dynamic Central Spindle Testing Machine at the School of Engineering of a leading Welsh University.
The walter+bai system will be used to perform tension, compression, flexural and low cycle fatigue tests (LCF) at temperatures from ambient to 1200°C.
This was an interesting project which included the need to lower the machine in to place via a skylight.
Ibertest IMBT 4-1000
We recently installed an Ibertest 1000 kN compression and cyclic test system to test Store crates used in storm water retention.
To accommodate the large store crates and allow easy and quick testing of the crates in three directions, the system was supplied with a long stroke 1500mm actuator and a nest of loadcells located under the lower compression platen.
The system is controlled and test data is acquired by a high-speed digital controller providing closed-loop control in position and load.
Ibertest from their facility in Madrid have been designing and manufacturing Material test equipment for over 50 years.
walter+bai 50kN Electro-dynamic test system
We recently commissioned a walter+bai 50 kN Electro-dynamic test system at a leading University in Ireland.
The system is designed to perform 3 & 4 Point flexural tests on beams up to 3000 mm long. In addition, the system can be configured to perform tensile, compression and cyclic tests.
The Walter+bai PCS High-speed digital controller provides closed-loop control in position, load and strain and can acquire test data at acquisition rates of up to 14.4KHz per channel synchronously.
Strain measurements are taken by the Tri-pod mounted Non-contacting X-Sight Video Extensometer which is currently set-up for Axial strain measurement. But can be expanded to acquire transverse strain and full surface analyses with the addition of software modules.
Labortech 50 kN Electro-mechanical test system
A leading English University have received their new Labortech 50 kN Electro-mechanical test system.
The test frame was configured to provide over 2000mm of vertical test space and supplied with adapters to allow the customers old Instron grips to be used.
The system will be used to perform a wide range of tensile, compression, flexural and block programmed cyclic tests.
Labortech from the facility in the Czech Republic have been designing a manufacturing a wide range of Material Test Equipment for over 25 years.
Labortech 5 kN Electro-mechanical test system
We have complied the installation and commissioning at a leading Welsh University of their new Labortech 5 kN Electro-mechanical test system.
The test frame was configured to be bench mounted and to be digitally compatible for their X-Sight Video extensometer fitted with a Telecentric lens. Adapters were also supplied to allow the customer to use their old Instron grips.
The system will be used for a range of research projects performing a wide range of tensile, compression, flexural and block programmed cyclic tests.
Labortech from the facility in the Czech Republic have been designing a manufacturing a wide range of Material Test Equipment for over 25 years.
Labortech 50 kN Electro-mechanical test system
We supplied an extended height Labortech 50 kN system configured to accommodate an Instron 3119 chamber and roller mounting bracket.
The customer purchased this system to replace an old Instron test system and thus adapters were also supplied to allow the customer to use their old Instron grips.
The test frame was configured to be floor mounted with height adjustable legs to utilise the space available efficiently.
The system will be used to perform a wide range of tensile, compression, flexural and block programmed cyclic tests.

Labortech 450 Joule Pendulum Impact test system
We just completed the installation and training of a Labortech 450 Joule Pendulum Impact test system at a world leading University in Scotland. This was an extremely challenging installation due to the restricted access and floor loading limitations.
The system will be used to perform impact tests on a range of metallic products in accordance with the International standards for Charpy, Izod, Brugger, tensile impact tests.
The system was supplied with a motorised pendulum lifting system and brake, compact machine controller via an integrated 17 “touch LCD monitor which displays both digital and analogue measured values and an semi-automatic test specimen centring system.

walter+bai 100kN Servo-hydraulic test system
A walter+bai Servo-hydraulic 100 kN fatigue test system was supplied to an important Technical Institute in Ireland.
The system was supplied with fatigue rated hydraulic grips for testing between -180 Deg C and + 350 Deg C in an environmental chamber. The chamber was fitted with a high quality quartz window to allow Non-contacting X-Sight video extensometry to be used for strain measurement.
The system will be used for both teaching and research and will perform static tensile, compression and flexural tests and fatigue tests. The system is powered by a walter+bai air-blast cooled Hydraulic Power Unit.
walter+bai 1000kN Servo-hydraulic test system
This walter+bai 1000 kN system was design and supplied to perform Proof Loading tests on a range of Nuts and Bolts used within the construction industry.
Due to the loads involved and the nature of the test, the load frame was designed to provide a very high stiffness characteristic. Thus, if a Nut of Bolts failed the system would absorb the energy. A long stroke actuator was incorporated to make changes between different bolt lengths easy and quick. An reinforced and interlocked safety enclosure is fitted.
As this system is included within a small laboratory, the control system, the computer and the hydraulic power supply are all hosed within a 19” racking.
walter+bai have been designing and manufacturing a wide range of Material test equipment from their facility in Switzerland for over 50 years.
