The crack length measuring system FRACTOMAT is base on the indirect potential drop method and continuously indicates the measuring values. It generates an accurate result of the crack length and can also be used to control the propagation of the crack. The various interfaces allow the FRACTOMAT to be used in any testing configuration and on any non - RUMUL testing equipment.

The crack length foil (KRAK GAGE) serves as a transducer. The KRAK GAGE-structure consists of a conducting layer on an electrically insulating backing. The KRAK GAGE's are bonded, similar to the strain gage technique, onto the specimen and then connected to the FRACTOMAT.

To measure and evaluate cracks on fracture mechanics specimens in fundamental R&D or on component-like specimens, as. in aeronautics.
